CAD File Transfer Checklist
E-mailing CAD Files
1 You will need to contact us before E-mailing files.
2 Please compress any surfaced files (.zip format).
3 AOL users please .zip ALL files.
For All Designers
Unless a descriptive format is agreed upon, we cannot determine:
Thread pitch, size, and depth.
Hole size tolerances + or - (slip or press fits).
Special surface finish requirements.
Including special clearances.
1 Materials, plating, painting.
2 Please add this information in the comments area or it can be faxed.

For Designers Using Solid Works
1 Save your file as a .STP file.
2 Turn off your sketch layer prior to saving.
3 If there are no freeflowing surfaces to be cut, turn off surfaces.
4 Wireframe data is all that is required for most 2D applications.
5 Make sure you are outputting arcs and lines when applicable,
The latest translators are available online at surfware.com.
For Designers Using Pro-E, H.P. Solids, or AutoCAD (Mechanical
Desktop)
1 For flat pattern 2D a .DXF file is acceptable (laser or sheet).
Please avoid using polylines, as they will have to be edited.
2 For 3D designs, a .STP format is preferred.
